Outsourced Tears

Outsourced Tears is a speculative installation, investigating the influence of technology on the human condition. Inspired by a personal cry & the youtube video De Traan en de Regie.

We researched different movie scenes with closeup shots of tears running down faces, and made a machine to automate these emotional moments.

How far are humans willing to go, in the pursuit of efficiency?  
If we don’t have time to cry anymore, can a machine do it for us?
